  • Created and manage an online news site (voicenewspapers.com). Publish daily articles, photographs, and videos relevant to the socially aware communities of lower Montgomery County, Md.
  • Write and edit. Research community issues, interview newsmakers, and compose compelling news and features.
  • Produce monthly print and tablet (iPad) versions of the Voice. Total print circulation: 50,000.
  • Design and distribute electronic publications via email and social media. Inform and engage a variety of audiences—consumers and clients—each week through e-newsletters and RSS feeds. Develop our network and communicate to readers and clients through Facebook and Twitter.
  • Manage search engine optimization to draw more than 30,000 unique visitors each month. Utilize web traffic tools such as WordPress SEO, Google Analytics, Yahoo! Site Explorer, and Bing Webmaster.
  • Manage story budget and network of writers, photographers, and editors. Lead meetings, assign stories, coordinate tasks, set direction for more than two dozen creative professionals.   
  • Craft successful marketing campaigns. Have managed hundreds of marketing projects, collaborating with thousands of clients.
  • Developed thriving internship program. Have recruited and mentored more than 100 university students in the fields of journalism, design, and photography.
  • Report on community issues as a monthly guest on Montgomery Week in Review, a televised news discussion program on Montgomery County Channel 21.
  • Founded and organized the Takoma Park Azalea Awards, an annual gala that recognizes community heroes (since 1996).
